Big Things

It’s been a very busy year at Lindsey Sparks Photography! I’ve been so blessed to have grown my business to the place that it is today, and it hasn’t been without the love and support of my amazing husband, my family and friends and of course my loyal clients (and a special shout out to my Bingo girls!  You guys make life better and without you I might not survive!).

This time of year is always a struggle for photographers. We often book ourselves to the point of pure and utter exhaustion. We let our businesses take over our lives because we love what we do!  During Sept-Nov we sleep very little, we forget things, we probably miss emails and make some or a lot of mistakes. SOOOOO….my apologies to any of you that have slipped through the cracks as far as emails or any other business matters. This fall has been my busiest yet.  Every year I say I’m going to book less so I can spend more time with my family and yet, somehow I end up booking more.  (I can’t really complain about that!)  I do love what I do and it’s very hard to say no! I’m lucky and blessed to have clients who continue to come back and see me and trust me! You guys are seriously awesome!

I’ve been thinking a lot the last couple of months about where my business is headed and where I want it to be. Of course, with those thoughts come many changes. I’m not going to get into all of those changes right now, because I still need to put a lot more thought into the direction I’m going.  2015 is going to be a great year, and I’m looking forward to more time dedicated to each session, less missed emails and untimely responses.  I want to get back to the place where I’m managing everything and giving everything I can to you! (and still giving everything to my family as well).:-):-):-)

While we’re on the topic of changes, my husband and I had to have a little chat with our son this week.  Here’s how it went:

Mom and Dad: “Keane, things are going to be changing for your Dad and I very soon and we wanted to talk with you about it.”

Keane: “I don’t like the sounds of this at all!” (Keane is 18 months old and can’t really talk.  This is purely a hypothetical conversation!)

Mom and Dad: “Well, buddy, we have some big news for you!  You’re going to be a big brother!”

Keane: “What?  This can’t be happening!”

Keane: “JUST KIDDING! I’m super excited to be a big brother!”

Keane: “So that’s it? Right there? It looks like a gummy bear.”

Keane: “So when should I expect this thing to arrive?”

Mom and Dad: “You’re going to be a big brother in May!”

Keane: “MAY??!!!  MAY!!!!  That’s soooo soon!  I don’t think I’m ready for this!”

So, now that I’ve spilled the beans I can hope that most of you understand the craziness that has been the last couple of months. I’m just now starting to feel like myself again and I’ve really struggled to keep on top of everything. Being pregnant in your first trimester during the busy fall season is a little overwhelming. But, I made it! Tomorrow I am 13 weeks and my energy is already starting to come back. So to all of you that waited patiently for my email responses and dealt with my crazy pregnancy brain self, I appreciate you and I appreciate your understanding! Wooooo, I’m so glad that’s finally out there! We’re beyond excited to be adding to our family and I’m so happy I can share this journey with all of you!

I will be booking less in 2015 due to my pregnancy etc. I will also be taking a scheduled maternity leave. If you are one of my milestone clients please contact me ASAP so we can discuss a plan. The only sessions I will complete on maternity leave are milestone clients.

Now I can finally start wearing my elastic waist maternity pants and not feel weird about it at sessions!
