I asked mom if it was ok to share a little bit about our session with Miss Elli. Backstory, Elli’s mom, Kalyn, is one of my best friends. It seems crazy to think that it’s been 14 years since we started living together in college and we lived together for five years. Not sure how she put up with me for so long! Kalyn always has her girls dressed to the nines. I’m never disappointed when they show up for sessions in THE cutest outfits. For this session, Kalyn asked me for some suggestions for outfits for Elli to wear. I sent her a Pinterest board of some SUPA cute little girl outfits. (Clients, if you need help planning outfits, I’m more than happy to help you out!)
At the beginning of the session Kalyn told me how much Elli LOVED her new clothes (dress, jean vest, scarves, fedora hat, and sunglasses). We wanted this session to be super fun and so we chose an urban setting to match with her new fashionista clothes. Well, it didn’t quite go as planned. Elli decided she did NOT, in fact, want to wear ANY of the adorable clothes that mama had purchased for the session. She was cool with her dress, but we had to bribe her with the following to get photos with the accessories ($1 bill, McDonald’s, fruit snacks, trip to the zoo, new toys, hanging out with daddy after the session, and likely many other things). By the end of the session, Elli had played us for fools and wasn’t giving in to our trickery! lol!
I know it’s stressful when your kiddo doesn’t want to wear what you chose for them, or doesn’t really want to do photos at all. It happens. and I know it will happen to me with my son. Kalyn and I laughed often through the session (hiding our faces from Elli, of course) and we made it work. and let me tell you, in the end, this is my favorite session of Ellis that I’ve ever done. She showed us her strong will (I have know idea where she gets this from??? Kalyn, do YOU know anyone who is strong-willed and or stubborn?), but that didn’t stop us from having an amazing session! ;-) Mom knows I’m giving her a hard time and her and I share that stubborn/strong-willed personality. Probably why we are such good friends!
Please enjoy this adorable session of Miss Ellis! (and clients, I LOVE urban sessions. Please start requesting them more! They are so fun!)
This first image was a total fake out, people. She put all of her cute accessories on, and then quickly changed her mind! Oh to be a kid!!
I sure enjoyed our time together, Elli! I’m sure our next adventure will be just as fun!
